William Angliss Institute Renews Partnership with Sri Lanka’s Leading Hospitality Academy

William Angliss Institute has proudly renewed its longstanding partnership with the Colombo Academy of Hospitality Management (CAHM) during a formal signing ceremony held at the historic Galle Face Hotel on 28 March 2025.

The partnership, which began in 2013, continues to deliver Australian qualifications in Hospitality, Travel and Tourism, Commercial Cookery, Patisserie and Events through CAHM which is located at the Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT).

CAHM is Sri Lanka’s largest private hospitality provider and features purpose-built, state-of-the-art facilities including multiple training kitchens and specialised learning spaces that reflect industry standards. The Institute delivers a wide range of William Angliss Institute qualifications and provides an immersive learning experience that meets Australian vocational training standards.

The ceremony was attended by representatives from both institutions, including Chair of the William Angliss Institute Board the Hon John Pandazopoulos; Acting CEO Mr Wayne Crosbie; Director Education and Strategic Development Mr Nicholas Hunt; and Director of International and Business Development Mr Ray Petts. Representing CAHM were Chairman Mr Errol Weerasinghe, Managing Director Mr Anuk Weerasinghe and Director Mr Nivran Weerakoon.

Mr Weerasinghe said the partnership continues to offer Sri Lankan students a globally recognised and culturally rich education experience.

“It’s a fantastic achievement to renew our agreement with William Angliss Institute. The continued support – including the annual visit of around 20 Australian-based trainers and assessors – enhances the international quality and relevance of our course delivery,” said Mr Weerasinghe.

“This unique model gives students and staff access to diverse teaching methods and real-world insights from the global hospitality industry, reinforcing the values of cultural inclusion and international best practice.”

The Hon John Pandazopoulos said William Angliss Institute is proud to continue supporting Sri Lanka’s growing tourism and hospitality sector.

“We are delighted to reaffirm our collaboration with CAHM to provide world-class vocational education and training that empowers students to build careers locally and internationally,” stated Mr Pandazopoulos.

“Our ongoing partnership is strengthened by the strong support of local industry and a shared commitment to Sri Lanka’s emergence as a leading destination in global tourism.”

During the same week as the signing ceremony, representatives from both institutions celebrated the graduation of 273 students, bringing the total number of Sri Lankan graduates to over 2,500 – many of whom are now building successful careers locally and abroad.
