Student Achievements Honoured at Melbourne Graduations

Congratulations to more than five hundred graduates who owned the stage at our Melbourne campus, marking their achievements across the Faculty of Higher Education, Centre for Tourism, Hospitality and Events (VET) and, Centre for Food Trades and Culinary Arts (VET).

Pre-ceremony refreshments were served at the newly launched Tram Café, providing a delightful backdrop for families and friends to gather, celebrate and extend support to the graduating students.

Three students were honoured with a DUX, the highest level of academic achievement in their course. Eleven students received a prestigious Dean's list commendation and thirteen students were honoured with the VET Special Achievement Awards. Among the standouts, events student Daniel Keenan received the award for Most Outstanding Student, a recognition sponsored by Club Chef. Food science and technology student Anthony Do, received the award for Best Academic Student, sponsored by the Food Technology Association of Australia.

Encouraging words of inspiration were delivered by William Angliss Institute's Board Chair Hon. John Pandazopoulos and CEO Nicholas Hunt.

The Hon. John Pandazopoulos emphasised the Institute's mission to deliver the highest quality specialist skills and education programs to inspire and empower a diverse community of learners. "This graduation ceremony provides an opportunity to recognise and celebrate the achievements of our graduands. Congratulations on all your achievements and I wish everyone all the best for their future careers," he said.

Corinne Hurst, accomplished hotelier and alumna delivered a motivating speech at the Faculty of Higher Education ceremony. Having completed the Bachelor of Resort and Hotel Management (International Practice) in 2021, Corinne congratulated the graduands saying, "Your journey to this moment is truly commendable, reflecting your passion, commitment and resilience.

"As you embark on your own journey as graduates, remember that education is a continuous process. Embrace opportunities to grow and develop, just as I have throughout my career. I encourage you to carry the spirit of curiosity and perseverance into the future."
Corinne attributes her career trajectory to her decision to study at William Angliss Institute, a move that led her from country Victoria to her current role as Duty Manager at Adina Apartment Hotel Flinders Street.

Having received the Indigenous Encouragement Award at her own graduation, alumna and guest speaker at the Centre for Tourism and Hospitality (VET) ceremony Emma Stock kick-started her career with Abercrombie & Kent in the Inbound Operations team and is currently Operations Specialist - Australia & New Zealand.

The perfect Melbourne autumn day provided an ideal opportunity for graduates to capture memorable moments with family, friends and teachers across campus.
