Angliss alum has sights set for tourism success
Brittany McLean has a wealth of experience having worked in the hospitality industry for over 10 years. When it came time to progress her career in a new direction, she wanted to incorporate her love of travelling overseas with her current skills combining her two passions, tourism and hospitality. Studying at Angliss became the launchpad for her to fuse the two. Environmental sustainable and culturally responsible tourism has always been on Brittany's radar so the Bachelor of Tourism (Eco-Tourism) was the obvious choice for Brittany.
In her first post-graduation role, The Shrine of Remembrance gave Brittany the opportunity to work across multiple facets of the organisation, such as general visitation, retail, tour guiding, administration, exhibitions, events, and in the production studio. Now with her new role as Sales & Product Coordinator at Sightseeing Tours Australia (STA), her list of skills will only continue to grow.
Brittany has been able to draw on her practical and theoretical skills garnered from her studies, and apply them to the tasks that come her way, these include planning, designing, and delivering memorable tourism experiences.
She said, “The core business and marketing subjects at the Institute have been instrumental in furthering my administrative and creative tasks and activities at work.”
Brittany said that there were so many things that she enjoyed about her time at Angliss, “The lecturers and tutors were industry professionals, they knew how to deliver engaging and memorable classes. Angliss was the perfect place to grow and develop my skills and find new challenges to further pursue my professional career in the Hospitality and Tourism industry.”
Recently we were thrilled to invite Brittany back to campus as an industry panelist at Angliss Open Day 2022 alongside Steve Markotis (former Angliss Aviation Program Leader, Virgin) and Chris Porter (Head of Operations and Industry Development, VTIC).
