Seize Your Disney Dream Job Now!
Seizing the opportunity of a lifetime, a new world of cultures and experiences opened up for Angliss alumna Zoe McMahon, when she worked at the Grand Floridian Resort & Spa as a participant of the Disney Cultural Exchange Program from 2019-2020.
The training gained from completing the Certificate III in Retail Baking (Melbourne) and Certificate IV in Patisserie (Sydney), gave Zoe the self-assurance to ask if she could put her bakery skills to the test in addition to her role in Quick Service at Gasparilla Island Grill.
"At Victoria & Albert's restaurant, which won the AAA Five Diamond Award and the 2018 Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star Award, I got to assist in baking the most expensive truffle bread on the Disney property, which was an amazing experience," explained Zoe.
Zoe encourages students to move out of their comfort zone and try out for Disney and other job openings. "I am now employed fulltime as a Trade Qualified Baker with Coles. I am grateful for the experience at Disney as it has given me more confidence to challenge myself," Zoe added.
ZOE'S TOP TIPS FOR SECURING YOUR DREAM JOB
- Have your resume and a cover letter template ready for updating for opportunities that come up throughout the year.
- Angliss staff are such a 'fountain of knowledge', there's always someone there to help you. When in doubt, ask for help with your career dreams.
- Keep a look out for new opportunities! If any jobs spark your interest, apply for them. You never know where these opportunities will take you.
- Always put in your best effort. If you make a mistake along the way, learn from them. My mantra is "Always give it a go!"
