Diversity, Inclusion & Safety

Diversity and inclusion are priorities that underpin our values and culture at William Angliss Institute. We strive to provide a sense of belonging and create an environment where everyone’s needs are understood and respected.

Our community takes pride in its diversity, and we are unwavering in our commitment to eliminating limitations imposed by gender, race, or other biases. We recognise that disadvantage and discrimination can manifest in many ways, as outlined in the Victorian Gender Equality Act 2020.

We aim to create a safe, equitable, and welcoming environment where all students, staff, and community members have the freedom and opportunity to reach their full potential.

Our Actions

We demonstrate our commitment through action including:

  • An ongoing commitment to supporting gender equality through achieving the recommendations of the Gender Equality Action Plan (GEAP) – Gender Equality Commissioner's Report
  • Taking a lead in gender equality and violence prevention with a whole of TAFE and VET approach through the Respect and Equality in TAFE campaign
  • Celebrating the student community's diversity through activities including Pride Month, IDAHOBIT week and Harmony Day
  • Committing to a position of reconciliation through the development and implementation of a Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) Reflect
  • Providing a safe campus environment through customised programs initiated in collaboration with students and staff.

Gender Equality Action Plan (GEAP)

We have made a long-term commitment to achieving gender equality at William Angliss Institute and have developed strategies that will be both sustainable and enduring. These strategies are outlined in the William Angliss Institute Gender Equality Action Plan (GEAP).

William Angliss Institute has developed a plan and specific actions to address gender segregation (stereotypes) and support diversity and opportunities for progression for all. Through this priority we will ensure our community is inclusive, free from bias and discrimination.

Our GEAP has been developed in line with the Gender Equality Act 2020 (the Act). Implementation and change is reported and measured in accordance with the Act.
